Unusual topic this time. The local annual event "Stars in Your Eyes", the 22nd one, which was held in 4 night continuations in the last week. My husband appeared this time after an interval of four years since 2010. It was really a secret what he would perform.

(left) from my Japanese friend: (right) from "Yumesato-farm" in Christchurch:
The Ume-zu (the brine) is the precious by-product which is got when the Ume-boshi (pickled plum) is made. As well as the Ume-boshi pickles, it has a lot of healthy ingredients such as a natural amino acid, minerals, abundant organic acid (citric acid/malic acid). It's useful as a seasoning instead of other vinegar, or as an ingredient to make beautiful sauce or dressing, adding the Ume flavor to the dish.
I cooked dishes using it.... で、作ってみた料理はこちら: <Pork steak, Ume-vinaigrette sauce> The sauce mellowed by mirin and sake, grated daikon-radish lets pork refresh, sesame tasted spinach saute, and mixed rice. Each harmonizes and is very delicious.
A little branch of the cherry tree, which became a pretty decoration on the dish.
カットしておいた桜の枝、 お皿の上ではかわいい引立て役。
Pickled daikon by sweetened Ume-zu, with cherry blossoms: It's ready to be eaten in half day or one day. Full of flavor from the Ume and cherry blossom.
YUMESATO FARM: They cultivate spray-free Ume near Christchurch. Fresh Ume and the organic Ume-products can be purchased there. I will buy fresh ones and try to make Ume-boshi this summer !
There was annual event organized by ANZ, and the Pikelets making organized by the Upper Clutha Lions Club. I participated in the help one of the two days last week.
******************************************************************************************** パイクレットとは・・・ 調べてみると、 a type of pancake found in Australia and New Zealand と出ています。
******************************************************************************************** As the flow, getting pre-order beforehand, cooking and preparing them to be purchased on the days. It is a fundraiser for the Cancer Society and the funds raised used in our community. The venue was ANZ bank.
Other ladies made the base and whipped cream in the kitchen at the back. They made new batch and carried it out continuously. 奥のキッチンでは、生地作りの人・クリームをホイップする人もいて、次々とボウルに 入った新しいものが運ばれてきます。
How many pikelets in total ??!!
朝7時半スタートから正午まで、 20人弱のメンバーでどれだけ作ったのか・・・?
Pile of the boxes which had been collected from supermarket regularly. Was it 600-boxes? …So that 7200-pikelets in two days?
